An Aston University graduate who now is a senior director for Al Jazeera has won a British Council Study UK Alumni award 2025.

Eman AlAmri won the culture and creativity award in the largest celebration of success globally for UK educated international students. The category celebrates those who have carved a career for themselves in arts and culture and can demonstrate their artistic ingenuity, influence and creativity. The award is open to those who work in the arts, design, humanities, traditional media, music, video, TV, sports and online content.

Eman joined Al Jazeera in 2007 as a media research and marketing project supervisor. Since 2022 she has been the director of the Al Jazeera Media Institute which organises specialised media training courses. A year before she took up her current role, she graduated from Aston University with a distinction in MSc in Business Administration and Management.

The Study UK Alumni Awards are open to graduates living anywhere outside of the UK. Winners and finalists are chosen from leaders in their fields who have used their experience of studying at a UK university to make a positive contribution to their communities, industries and countries. The prizes were established to highlight the impact and value of a UK higher education and raise the international profile of graduates and their former universities.

Eman said: “I’m proud to receive the 2025 award for culture and creativity 2025. This achievement means the world to me. I would like to say a huge thanks to everyone who supported and believed in me, including the staff at Aston University.

“Creativity is a journey, and every step is filled with passion and determination!”
Matt Dean executive director of Aston University’s international directorate said “We are delighted that Eman has been recognised by the British Council. Her award illustrates how Aston University enables its students to succeed in work and life and the impact that alumni of UK higher education institutions are making in their chosen fields.”

The awards are open to alumni who live in any country outside the UK, who have within the last 15 years enrolled at a UK higher education institution. The four winners were announced at an awards ceremony in Doha on 25 February. The four award categories are culture and creativity, science and sustainability, social action and business and innovation.
