NEW ORLEANS, April 18, 2025 – The Acoustical Society of America and the International Commission on Acoustics are co-hosting a joint meeting May 18-23 at the New Orleans Marriott. ASA and ICA will offer in-person sessions throughout the week and host livestreamed press conferences Tuesday, May 20.

This scientific conference brings together interdisciplinary groups of acoustics professionals to discuss the latest advancements from a variety of fields, including physics, medicine, music, psychology, wildlife biology, and engineering. While in New Orleans, experts will present recent work on topics that include coral reef preservation, the sounds of pollinators and flowers, and identifying inert underwater explosives using acoustic scattering. Conference highlights can be found on social media by using the #ASA188 hashtag.

Reporters are invited to attend in-person sessions at no cost (registration details below).

Media are also encouraged to participate in a series of press conferences featuring a selection of newsworthy sessions Tuesday, May 20. We have used AlphaGalileo since its foundation but frankly we need it more than ever now to ensure our research news is heard across Europe, Asia and North America. As one of the UK’s leading research universities we want to continue to work with other outstanding researchers in Europe. AlphaGalileo helps us to continue to bring our research story to them and the rest of the world.

AlphaGalileo has helped us more than double our reach at SciDev.Net. The service has enabled our journalists around the world to reach the mainstream media with articles about the impact of science on people in low- and middle-income countries, leading to big increases in the number of SciDev.Net articles that have been republished.
