[NAIROBI] Les producteurs de papayes au Kenya se tournent vers une nouvelle solution pour lutter contre la cochenille farineuse dévastatrice de la papaye : les guêpes parasites.
La cochenille, originaire d’Amérique centrale, est un ravageur des cultures qui se propage rapidement et qui fait des dégâts dans les champs de papaye au Kenya depuis 2015, provoquant d’importantes pertes économiques chez les petits exploitants agricoles.
Dorcus Lekesio, une petite exploitante agricole du comté de Baringo, cultive la papaye depuis plus de 15 ans. Elle en tire les revenus pour nourrir sa famille et éduquer ses enfants.
