A new digital platform for data-driven environmental monitoring for a just energy transition

The SITRANS project is excited to announce the launch of the JETO Observatory, a new digital platform aimed at supporting sustainable energy transition and environmental monitoring. JETO (Just Energy Transition Observatory) combines advanced data visualisation, analysis and collaborative tools. Its aim is to address the complex challenges of decarbonisation, socio-economic resilience, and effective governance within Europe’s energy landscape.

At the heart of JETO is a meso-level approach that explores the socio-economic and governance factors essential for eliminating poverty, fostering inclusive growth, and promoting a just energy transition. The platform enables stakeholders, researchers, and policymakers to collaborate, unlocking valuable visions for informed decision-making.

The JETO platform features a wealth of functionalities to enhance environmental monitoring and sustainable planning. Users will find comprehensive geospatial and socio-economic data readily accessible, supporting ongoing analysis and decision-making. Emphasizing open science, JETO allows users to explore and develop new applications using its resources. Anyone can freely download raw data to conduct independent analyses within their teams. To foster a collaborative approach, JETO consolidates research, geospatial data, and policy documentation within its knowledge repository. The observatory is organised around three pillars: public participation, geospatial data access, and reporting tools – that promote transparent governance, rigorous impact assessment, and accessible policy support. Features like Story Maps and the Geospatial INSPIRE repository provide an immersive experience for users of all levels.

The JETO Observatory is now live and freely accessible to the public. To explore the full capabilities of this platform, visit JETO Observatory.

With the launch of JETO, SITRANS reaffirms its commitment to a transparent, data-driven, and inclusive approach to energy transition.

Testimonials

For well over a decade, in my capacity as a researcher, broadcaster, and producer, I have relied heavily on Alphagalileo.
All of my work trips have been planned around stories that I've found on this site.
The under embargo section allows us to plan ahead and the news releases enable us to find key experts.
Going through the tailored daily updates is the best way to start the day. It's such a critical service for me and many of my colleagues.
Koula Bouloukos, Senior manager, Editorial & Production Underknown
We have used AlphaGalileo since its foundation but frankly we need it more than ever now to ensure our research news is heard across Europe, Asia and North America. As one of the UK’s leading research universities we want to continue to work with other outstanding researchers in Europe. AlphaGalileo helps us to continue to bring our research story to them and the rest of the world.
Peter Dunn, Director of Press and Media Relations at the University of Warwick
AlphaGalileo has helped us more than double our reach at SciDev.Net. The service has enabled our journalists around the world to reach the mainstream media with articles about the impact of science on people in low- and middle-income countries, leading to big increases in the number of SciDev.Net articles that have been republished.
