College Students’ Continuing Willingness to Use Virtual Simulation Learning Systems: Empirical Evidence from China

14/11/2024 Frontiers Journals

This study investigates the factors influencing Chinese college students’ sustained use of Virtual Simulation Learning Systems (VSLSs). Utilizing a structural equation modeling approach and survey data, the research reveals that perceived value, primarily driven by perceived benefits such as improved academic performance and increased learning interest, is the most significant predictor of continued VSLS use. Social influence, mediated through perceived benefits, also plays a crucial role. Contrary to expectations, perceived quality does not directly impact students’ willingness to continue using VSLSs. Instead, it indirectly influences perceived benefits, highlighting the importance of aligning VSLS quality with students’ learning goals. The study recommends focusing on enhancing perceived benefits through technical improvements and instructional design, as well as implementing social communication strategies to raise awareness and encourage usage.

We have used AlphaGalileo since its foundation but frankly we need it more than ever now to ensure our research news is heard across Europe, Asia and North America. As one of the UK’s leading research universities we want to continue to work with other outstanding researchers in Europe. AlphaGalileo helps us to continue to bring our research story to them and the rest of the world.
Peter Dunn, Director of Press and Media Relations at the University of Warwick
AlphaGalileo has helped us more than double our reach at SciDev.Net. The service has enabled our journalists around the world to reach the mainstream media with articles about the impact of science on people in low- and middle-income countries, leading to big increases in the number of SciDev.Net articles that have been republished.
