ESMO Asia Congress 2024: Event Announcement

Location: Singapore

Lugano, Switzerland, 27 November 2024 – The ESMO Asia Congress 2024 is the annual event dedicated to multidisciplinary oncology in the Asian region. It will feature a broad spectrum of topics in cancer research, including novel treatment modalities, in-depth discussions on the management of specific cancer types, pan-Asian trials and subgroup analyses of cutting-edge studies relevant for the patients in the area. Data will be presented and discussed by leading experts from across Asia and beyond. The congress will be held onsite in Singapore from 6-8 December, with no virtual option available.

Programme highlights

  • Subgroup analyses for evaluating recently approved standard of care therapies in urothelial carcinoma among the Asian population.

  • News Insights on unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma: from an Asian subgroup analysis of a Phase-3 trial on the first line-treatment to novel data on overall survival.

  • Asian perspectives on recent practice-changing Phase-3 trials for the treatment of anal, bladder, liver, lung, cervical and breast cancers.

  • Insights on the genetics, biology and practice differences between the West and Asia in light of the new Pan-Asian Guidelines Adaptations (PAGA) for biliary, lung and ovarian cancers.

  • Outlook on the Asian region: from cancer prevention and national screening programs to the management of patients with rare cancers, through environmental and infection-related cancers.

  • Current perspectives on preventive oncology, including prevention of virus-induced cancers, the potential of molecular techniques for early detection and the role of AI in histo-pathology.

  • Discussions on the potential of cell and gene therapies for solid tumors, including the use of virotherapy, the future of CAR T cell and TIL therapies and the opportunities for clinical practice.

  • Insights on self-management of anxiety and depression in patients with fear of recurrence and on cognitive problems affecting functional outcomes after cancer treatment in young adults.

The results of the studies presented at the congress will be published online as a supplement to Annals of Oncology. The abstract titles can be viewed through the online programme.

ESMO Patient Engagement Summit

The first edition of the ESMO Patient Engagement Summit will take place during the ESMO Asia Congress 2024. This dialogue platform will bring together the voices of patients, healthcare professionals, and industry representatives to identify the challenges and opportunities facing patients in the Asia-Pacific region. The aim is to shape impactful health policies while exploring patient engagement strategies to strengthen a collaborative decision-making approach in the multiple dimensions of cancer care, including prevention, access to diagnosis and treatments, survivorship, and patient rights.

Press accreditation
