You see nature? We see future: SMART ERA first social campaign

16/12/2024 youris.com

The SMART ERA project has launched a social media campaign: “You see nature, we see future”. Inviting followers to share pictures of their rural areas, the initiative will give a glimpse of the too-often-forgotten potential of these landscapes.

Using the hashtag #CaptureYourRuralArea, project partners, followers and outdoor enthusiasts are all invited to frame some hidden gems and upload their snapshots online, making sure they reference the project.

When the project team last met, project partner ICONS distributed flyers and introduced the campaign “You see nature, we see future”, inviting partners to take up this challenge.
Instructions are straightforward, and the flyer – pierced in the top-right angle, to frame the photos – is also available for download here.

All would-be or confirmed photographers need to do is:
  1. check their territory to find a beautiful view
  2. take a photo
  3. upload it on social media (LinkedIn, Facebook) and tag the project

The idea behind this campaign is not just to boost the project’s visibility and raise awareness of the challenges SMART ERA is addressing, but also to help valorise rural and internal areas, whose innovation potential – one of the key aspects of the project – is too often neglected. In this way, this social media campaign too will help redefine what is possible for rural communities in Europe.

SMART ERA is an EU co-funded Horizon Europe project running from January 2024 to December 2027. It involves 25 partners from 10 countries.

Testimonials

For well over a decade, in my capacity as a researcher, broadcaster, and producer, I have relied heavily on Alphagalileo.
All of my work trips have been planned around stories that I've found on this site.
The under embargo section allows us to plan ahead and the news releases enable us to find key experts.
Going through the tailored daily updates is the best way to start the day. It's such a critical service for me and many of my colleagues.
Koula Bouloukos, Senior manager, Editorial & Production Underknown
We have used AlphaGalileo since its foundation but frankly we need it more than ever now to ensure our research news is heard across Europe, Asia and North America. As one of the UK’s leading research universities we want to continue to work with other outstanding researchers in Europe. AlphaGalileo helps us to continue to bring our research story to them and the rest of the world.
Peter Dunn, Director of Press and Media Relations at the University of Warwick
AlphaGalileo has helped us more than double our reach at SciDev.Net. The service has enabled our journalists around the world to reach the mainstream media with articles about the impact of science on people in low- and middle-income countries, leading to big increases in the number of SciDev.Net articles that have been republished.
Ben Deighton, SciDevNet
