Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M) hosted the first edition of “Desafío 24 Horas”, a project to promote innovation and stimulate entrepreneurship among students. The challenge of this ideaton consisted of implementing solutions in the area of healthcare using artificial intelligence within the new regulatory framework opened up by the European Health Data Space. The initiative, which took place at the Center for Innovation in Entrepreneurship and Artificial Intelligence (C3N-IA) at the UC3M Science Park on December 13 and 14, involved the collaboration of graduate students from the University.

This proposal was submitted by Alanis Fuentes Palmero, Álvaro Lagaron Cáceres, Helena Oubiña Barbolla, Martín Mendel López, Miguel Ángel Chávez Casablanca and Nataly Graciela Escola Churuchumbi.
The second prize, with 250 euros, went to HormonIA, a subdermal device to anticipate episodic seizures of epilepsy, fibromyalgia and migraine, using hormonal values. This project was developed by Adriana Richter, Alejandro Bullido Martín, Ana López Ruiz, Ángela Cayado Vega, Belén María Gómez Sanjuán and María Pilar Urbano Calero.
The third prize, with 100 euros, was won by the team formed by Adrián Egosa Guillén Ehidiaduwa, Ana Ruiz Medina, Diego Pérez de Castro, Inés Fernández Arraiza, Noemí Battistoni and Pablo Díaz-Masa Valencia, who developed software to digitalize and help hospital management, detecting infection outbreaks and recommending action protocols.
Desafío 24 Horas is a project funded by the Community of Madrid in the framework of the multi-year agreement with UC3M, in its line of OTRIS Innovation and liaison entities, UC3M-Area 5y1 project. With it, UC3M underlines its commitment to innovation and entrepreneurial talent. This type of initiative enables students to develop essential transversal skills for the labor market, such as the detection of opportunities, critical thinking and creativity, while providing them with tools to develop projects that have a real impact on professional sectors.
