CABI Digital Library now includes more than 16 million research records across all database content

24/03/2025 CABI

CABI Digital Library is now home to more than 16 million research records across all its database content – proving itself an even greater resource for researchers, practitioners, libraries/institutions in need of evidence-based information and advice.

The new milestone has been reached across key databases including CAB Abstracts and Global Health – demonstrating enhanced value in its usage by leading research institutions as well as governments and organizations around the world.

Significantly, the CABI Digital Library which also hosts database subsets including ‘Abstracts on Hygiene & Communicable Diseases,’ ‘Africa Soil Health Consortium’ and ‘Horticultural Abstracts,’ indexes more than 9,000 periodical titles and extensive grey literature, much of which is not found in other databases.

Accelerated creation of records

Roger Tritton, Publisher – Research Databases at CABI, said, “We are delighted at hitting this important milestone, which reflects both the decades of investment in CABI databases and the accelerated creation of records we have delivered in recent years.”

CAB Abstracts and Global Health were integrated into CABI Digital Library in early 2024, joining CABI’s other publishing products which also includes Collections, Compendium, Books, Journals and Cases.

The CABI Digital Library and its databases are part of CABI’s mission to help improve people’s lives worldwide by providing information and applying scientific expertise to solve problems in agriculture and the environment.

Increase the reach, application and impact of science

This publishing resource, in turn, feeds into Goal 5 of CABI’s Medium-Term Strategy which seeks to ‘increase the reach, application and impact of science in agriculture and the environment.’

It also aligns with CABI’s core value which include a commitment to sharing knowledge so people can support themselves and improve their lives.

CABI Digital Library uses the Literatum search engine from Atypon with some adaptations for CABI’s database and full text content profile.

For well over a decade, in my capacity as a researcher, broadcaster, and producer, I have relied heavily on Alphagalileo.
All of my work trips have been planned around stories that I've found on this site.
The under embargo section allows us to plan ahead and the news releases enable us to find key experts.
Going through the tailored daily updates is the best way to start the day. It's such a critical service for me and many of my colleagues.
Koula Bouloukos, Senior manager, Editorial & Production Underknown
We have used AlphaGalileo since its foundation but frankly we need it more than ever now to ensure our research news is heard across Europe, Asia and North America. As one of the UK’s leading research universities we want to continue to work with other outstanding researchers in Europe. AlphaGalileo helps us to continue to bring our research story to them and the rest of the world.
Peter Dunn, Director of Press and Media Relations at the University of Warwick
AlphaGalileo has helped us more than double our reach at SciDev.Net. The service has enabled our journalists around the world to reach the mainstream media with articles about the impact of science on people in low- and middle-income countries, leading to big increases in the number of SciDev.Net articles that have been republished.
