Awardees will be recognized during ACC.25 and complete an Observership Program in the United States
The American College of Cardiology will honor three early career cardiologists with the Hani Najm Global Scholar Award Observership Program at ACC's Annual Scientific Session (ACC.25), taking place March 29 – 31, 2025, in Chicago.
Established in 2020 at the Saudi Heart Association’s Annual Conference, the Hani Najm Global Award Observership Program encourages and fosters the sharing of knowledge between international cardiology professionals, specifically early career cardiologists in the Middle East and Africa. Through its Observership Program, recipients have the opportunity to enhance their training by shadowing a practicing cardiologist at a U.S. hospital. This year’s winners are:
- Ahmed Mohamedkhair Ahmed Mohamed, MBBS, MD, Al Jubail, Saudi Arabia
- Ahmed Salash Toure, MD, MMED, Dodoma, Tanzania
- Khuzeima Khanbhai, MD, MMED, FACC, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
Hani K. Najm, MD, MSc, FACC, is a member of the ACC Board of Trustees and is the past chair of the ACC’s Assembly of International Governors. Najm is a professor of surgery and chair of adults and pediatric heart surgery at Cleveland Clinic.
“I am honored to sponsor this award and further its goal to facilitate the sharing of knowledge between international clinicians to combat the impact of cardiovascular disease worldwide. The Observership program gives awardees the opportunity to shadow a cardiologist at a U.S. hospital and strengthen their knowledge in their specialty. Congratulations to this year’s three awardees!” Najm said.
The Hani Najm Global Scholar Award Observership Program has been awarded annually since 2022.
