The European Technology and Innovation Platform Smart Networks for Energy Transition (ETIP SNET) will host its second Regional Workshop of 2025, delving into the integration of artificial intelligence and generative AI into smart grids, with a focus on Central Europe.

The workshop, themed “AI & GenAI in Smart Grids”, will take place in-person only on 8 May from 10:00 to 13:00 in Munich, Germany, in the context of the International Exhibition for Energy Management and Integrated Energy Solutions (EM-Power Europe). It will examine the latest technological advancements and best practices. The agenda will feature expert-led discussions, in-depth analyses, and real-world case studies, illustrating how AI-driven technologies are improving overall system efficiency, by optimising grid management and enhancing flexibility. Core discussions will focus on ETIP SNET’s strategic recommendations, aimed at facilitating the widespread adoption of AI and GenAI in smart grids.
Speakers, including Luis Cunha, ETIP SNET Chair, Pascal Plank, ENTSO-E (WG on Digitalisation within the Innovation Committee), and Mark Stephan, AIT will cover key topics such as technical, regulatory, and market-related challenges, along with necessary steps to accelerate AI implementation in smart grids. In addition, the event will convene a diverse group of industry experts, policymakers, and key stakeholders from across the energy industry, including representatives from the European Commission, transmission system operators (TSOs), distribution system operators (DSOs), energy technology and storage providers, energy utilities, ICT companies, research and innovation organisations, national ministries and regulators, energy agencies, and funding bodies.

The workshop is particularly designed to engage professionals and stakeholders from Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Poland, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The workshop will serve as a platform for dialogue, knowledge exchange, and collaboration, supporting the development of future research agendas and policy frameworks at the European Commission level.
Register by 30 April 2025 via the event's registration page. Seating is limited, register early and secure your spot!

Testimonials

For well over a decade, in my capacity as a researcher, broadcaster, and producer, I have relied heavily on Alphagalileo.
All of my work trips have been planned around stories that I've found on this site.
The under embargo section allows us to plan ahead and the news releases enable us to find key experts.
Going through the tailored daily updates is the best way to start the day. It's such a critical service for me and many of my colleagues.
Koula Bouloukos, Senior manager, Editorial & Production Underknown
We have used AlphaGalileo since its foundation but frankly we need it more than ever now to ensure our research news is heard across Europe, Asia and North America. As one of the UK’s leading research universities we want to continue to work with other outstanding researchers in Europe. AlphaGalileo helps us to continue to bring our research story to them and the rest of the world.
Peter Dunn, Director of Press and Media Relations at the University of Warwick
AlphaGalileo has helped us more than double our reach at SciDev.Net. The service has enabled our journalists around the world to reach the mainstream media with articles about the impact of science on people in low- and middle-income countries, leading to big increases in the number of SciDev.Net articles that have been republished.
